Obiano slams critics, calls them enemies of progress

By Bisola Ologunde
Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has described as enemies of progress, critics who accused him of under-utilising the state’s resources.
Speaking through his Senior Special Adviser on Youth Mobilization, Tony Ezekwelu, Obiano said those comparing olden days economy with today’s lacked understanding of economic situation in present day Nigeria and the global economic meltdown.
He stated that his critics, led by Nadis Ezewuzie, were simply dancing to the tune of their paymasters, who would never see anything good in his administration.
He, however, said they could not claim ignorance of the massive development and accountability in governance that had never been seen in the state, despite insufficient revenue allocation to Anambra when compared to other states.
“Those comparing monetary arithmetic and figures of the yesteryears with that of today are ignorant of the ever depreciating Naira and failing economy of ours’ he enthused.
“We hear about big monies trickling into states, private sector and individual accounts, yet they come with poor financial muscles that could not be sufficient to foot the huge bills facing the account/business owners. Offensive economic plights and constant Naira devaluations are not helping matters at all,” he said.
It would be recalled that while speaking to Anambra civil servants recently, the governor reiterated his cry over insufficient revenue allocation to the state, which had militated against his desire to aggressively execute projects.
